This week's blog will focus on a new soloist named Holland and his debut song titled Neverland. What is so head-turning about a new artist debuting this year, there are others out there - what makes him different from the others? Well Holland is the first soloist to be openly gay. There are not much Korean idols, to be members of the LGBTQ+ in South Korea but Holland went out of the closet and is not afraid the world to know.

Holland is an independent soloist as of now, he has no agency to handle his activities nor he is promoting his debut song in music shows.

Neverland is a 19+ rated music video, which means younger audiences won't have that much access to the music video due to its mature content.

The music revolves around Holland and his partner (whose name I won't reveal for privacy purposes) enjoying activities other couples would usually do.

Music wise, the song fits my preference, not too loud, not to mellow as if it is a ballad, it has a nice pacing and it kinda fits the chill music vibe with the accompanying instruments in the background.

Holland's deep nasal voice blends well with the tune - as if he was just narrating what is happening in the music video.

But what I like the most about the music video is the color scheme of the video. It had a lot of blues which was cool to the eyes and blends with the song - chill.

Lyric wise - the song talks about how naive they have been about love and how they are ready to let the whole world know about their relationship - they are ready to fly and they will never land.

So why did the music video receive a 19+ rating? The reason might be the photo below:

Heterosexual kissing scenes in music videos are the norm but due to its homosexual themes, they raised the rating to a 19+ due to the sensitive subject matter.

I personally enjoyed the song and music video as they fit my overall aesthetic. Holland's bold coming out story can be a whole new big step for not only Korean idols but other people as well to be true to their selves and true to their feelings. I won't expect every single person to like or even support the LGBTQ+ community but at least treat them as your fellow human being.

There is nothing wrong with having brewing feelings for somebody that you like as long as you stay true to yourself, don't get lost along the journey, and don't hurt others to be better.
