This week's blog entry, this I have been highly anticipating to feature but got to in an unexpectedly bloody sea fare. But I won't let some little wounds hinder me for featuring an all out fave of mine.

It is Tom N Tom's.
Tom N Toms Coffee is a coffeehouse chain based in South Korea. It first opened in the Apgujeong-dong District of Seoul and now has over 410 retail stores in the country (as of 2014) and they have a branch at Bacolod city.
I discovered this coffee giant during our internship days as it is located paralleled to the media institution where I was interning for and last Wednesday, I made sure to return before fixing some documentation with my internship.

Tom N Tom's is just like the Asian counterpart of this renowned Western coffee place that has a logo of a mermaid but Tom N Tom's offers both pastries and desserts.
Tom N Tom's offers a wide array for your caffeine fix - ranging from frappes, cappuccinos, lattes, and even sparkling lemonade (my personal fave, highly recommended if you don't like coffee) with sizes ranging from tall, grande, and venti.
While I was there, I ordered two things - the staple bingsu and a latte.

First, matcha bingsu - forgive me for I am terrible at flat lays. As the name suggests, it has matcha but what sets their bingsu from the rest of the world is that it is true to its name. So what is in the bowl? First shaved ice matcha topped with peanuts, injeolmi (cheesecake), vanilla ice cream, mung (red bean), and whipped cream. What makes me coming back for more with their bingsu are 1) the matcha is like infused with the ice, it's not powder but it is like matcha frozen then shaved into long thin strips that don't quickly melt, and also the ice does not sting to the teeth. 2) The add-ons from the bingsu shops I have come across, most of them plainly serve powder flavored shaved ice in a bowl, but here you get a platter of treats - the injeolmi is like cheesy chiffon cake that made me want to order the cake alone, it is that good. The mung or red bean as well - I thought at first it would be like munggo but it was not something I would distaste, it adds additional texture and flavor to the totality of the bingsu. 3) Lastly, for only 180 pesos you and your friend can enjoy this treat, it is 15 to 20 pesos cheaper than some bingsu cafes that offer the same deal. So if you are a matcha enthusiast and are looking for dessert, this bingsu is highly recommended for you.

Next up is the Matcha Latte. First of all - I have developed an interest in matcha and I have began a self journey in discovering my staple matcha drink and I have to stay with Tom N Tom's offering they have set the bar very high up with their drink.
Their matcha latte is so compelling in flavor, it is does not taste like kangkong blended down into a cup; it is more of a velvety flavor - creamy yet retains some texture of the matcha powder. I took a whiff at the drink, it is not pungent unlike some others. The latte is silky smooth - not to sweet, and not to empowering as well.
Tom N Tom's matcha latte is so good that it has won me over with just one drink - if you're planning to order something from their menu, consider this one - it is the bomb.
There you have it, my double matcha experience at Tom N Tom's in Bacolod city. If you are looking for a cozy place to chill, listen to K-pop music, or just get over from the mishap you've come across at sea that ended up lacerating your mouth, then Tom N Tom's is the place for you - if you're gonna try them out, let me know so I can make sama 😉
